Electrical strong & weak

Strong currents in a domestic or commercial installation, are the voltages that can cause damage to humans. And they refer to appliances that need 110Volt to 400Volt to operate.

The electrical installation is one of the most basic parts of the construction of your home, both for its operation and safety, as well as for its aesthetic effect.

This starts very early in a house, since the fundamental grounding is now mandatory for all newly constructed buildings. The installation of the foundation grounding on the concrete begins Before the first stones fall on the building site.

There are also many modern solutions, provided that the appropriate wiring has been carried out in our installation. One of them is the ” Smart” home. With the installation of suitable components, we have the possibilities of remote control or local control, which is achieved with one unit placed in our premises. These units also have the ability to provide the floor plan of our home on a wall mounted touch screen. On this screen the complete picture of the devices – lighting fixtures present in the house is displayed. From there all actions (opening – closing or dimming) are carried out in any consumption we want. Always in consultation with you, the infrastructure and studies needed for the installation are adapted.

All of these of course need infrastructure, study from the beginning of the installation and always in consultation with the customer and his needs.

Sick currents are called the wiring in our space…

… (whether residential or commercial) which power low voltage devices such as: Telephones, networks, loudspeakers, etc.

Weak currents, an important part of a domestic installation, can be used for various applications and are divided into categories:

  • Television

A radial (or axial) TV installation with good quality cables and appropriate equipment results in the best possible signal reception and the possibility of simultaneous multiple viewing (if there is more than one TV) e.g.: dvd, media player etc.

  • Telephony – Internet – Home Network

In our time, the phone is as essential as the home network. Home network is called a set of wiring with which we have the ability to interconnect all our electronic devices with each other. Some of the electrical devices that can be connected are: computer, TV, media player, home cinema, cameras. Furthermore, there is the controllability of the devices of our home from a distance, through smartphone ή tabletor a computer from another location.

A prerequisite for the above is the appropriate wiring, with cables ethernet, the appropriate RG45 power supplies and the appropriate equipment e.g. HUB – Switch – Router – Patch Panel

Also, in case our installation is old and there is no wiring and we do not want a wireless network, there is a solution with power socket devices, which gives us the possibility through wiring of strong currents to have a wired network. These devices are called Power line devices and can be installed in any type of electrical installation, single-phase or three-phase. In three-phase, the wall sockets on the wall that we choose must draw current from the same phase. A licensed installer can point out these points.

  • Doorphones – Video intercom

The intercom and intercom is the device that gives us audiovisual interaction with the person who wishes to enter our residence or workplace.

The above devices are necessary in every home for several decades due to security reasons. The door entry system has been leading the way for about 25 years, and in the last 5 years many additional features have been added.

  • Alarm – Fire detection

The alarm installation in a home or in a business premises, is essential. In case our premises are located on the ground floor or 1st floor the risk is quite high. The lower we are located, the easier access for unwanted visitors!

An complete alarm system, including: alarm panel, keypad, siren, radar, magnetic contacts.

In combination with other devices, access is allowed to at any time to the alarm system and our premises, either by sound or by image!! Even to change parameters.

The fire detection installation is essential in areas with combustible materials, especially in business premises.

In residences, e.g. if we have an alarm system in our house suitable can also accept fire detection, then we can place it according to our needs, for example: above our electric cooker. Most fire accidents in the kitchen area are caused by carelessness. Fire usually comes from an open eye in combination with food or oil, and the results are tragic. Fire detection prevents these accidents and effectively protects your home.

  • Closed circuit

The installation of a closed circuit in a house used to be considered a luxury. But nowadays, more and more people pay a lot of attention to the Security their home and/or shop. Demand has increased especially in homes where there are children who, due to the parents’ work, stay with another person who supervises them.

However, account must always be taken of the institutional framework regarding the installation of a closed circuit television in a home or business premises (e.g.: the camera is not allowed to look into a street – public or public place). When they are located within the dwelling every resident or visitor must be informed of its existence. In business premises it is necessary special permit for the installation of such systems; and posting a warning sign.

The full closed circuit system consists of: recorder, cameras, cables. Finally, today there is the possibility of monitoring the site at a distance. This can happen when the system is connected to our home network, with a cable ethernet. (*The recorder must support this feature)

  • Home theater – Entertainment

Η home entertainment includes many applications such as: sound, picture, video games, etc.

To implement it, we need wiring that is appropriate for each of the things we want to do. E.g. If we want to place a projector, we need to place it at the point of roof to be mounted, power cables, HDMI, VGA, HDMI, COMPONENT, network cables etc., depending on what machine we have chosen.

For the sound, good quality cables will be needed which, if the installation is new, will be run through the masonry, otherwise they will be visible.

As for our TVs (if there is more than one in the room) we can use a network device, e.g. a hard disk or a media player, to watch whatever we want, on any TV we want.

Solar thermal systems

One of the most interesting energy-saving alternatives is solar thermal systems. With these systems, in addition to the needs for the production of hot water (DHW), we can also cover a large part of the energy needs for heating the building.

However, it is very important to realize that solar thermal in no case can be the sole heating system of a building, but only to operate as an auxiliary to a heating system, such as a boiler or heat pump and with a participation that cannot exceed 35% on an annual basis.

Solar thermal systems are integrated solutions and consist of:

  • high-efficiency solar panels (usually meander-type or vacuum collectors),
  • energy storage tanks, which have strong insulation and usually a system of stratification of the hot water at the height of the tank, based on its temperature. Thus, high-temperature water is stored in the upper part to meet the DHW requirements, medium-temperature water is stored in the middle part to meet the heating requirements, and cold water is stored in the lower part. The main source of energy production, which is usually oil or gas boilers, condensing technology, heat pump and biomass boilers, and is found either integrated or installed next to the vessel, and
  • the solar station for the transfer of solar energy, the fresh hot water production station, using plate alternators and electronic circulators, the associated equipment such as inverter technology circulators, expansion tanks, balancing valves, etc., and the central automation that controls the system.

The basic principle of operation of these systems is that solar energy is stored in special heaters when it is available during the sunshine and used appropriately to meet heating and DHW needs, while when it is not sufficient to fully cover the loads (during the night or on a cold and cloudy day) then the main energy source is involved to cover the remaining energy. Priority is always given to meeting the energy required to produce DHW and then the excess energy is allocated for space heating.

A very basic parameter is to maintain as large a temperature difference as possible between the upper and lower part of the thermocouple in order to increase the efficiency of the solar field and maximize the stored solar energy. Also, in solar thermal systems, the combination with low temperature systems (floor and surface heating, fan coils) and progressive heating operation using an external temperature-based heating compensation controller is very important. This makes it possible to exploit even the minimum solar energy supplied by the heating system, while in periods of partial loads, such as autumn and spring, the number of starts of the main energy source is significantly reduced, achieving very high levels of fuel savings that can even reach 50% on an annual basis compared to a conventional system.

Solar thermal systems in combination with gas or oil condensing boilers or heat pumps and automation control of the internal heating distribution system of a building can be classified in the higher energy scale A+++.

Heating Heating – Natural gas.

Heating of the interiors is a prerequisite for comfort. The key to success is the calculation – study, under real conditions of the building, and the implementation of the system according to the study. The heating system can be divided into two main axes. The way of heat transmission and the way of heat production. The transmission mode is the indoor installation. Radiators, underfloor heating, fan coil units, roof heating, are some of the main applications of an indoor installation. Each type, differs in the way of installation, the mode of transmission, the quality of heating and the cost of installation. Different systems can be selected in a building depending on the requirements.

The main sources of heat production are fossil fuels, biomass and electricity. The trend today, driven by environmental protection and energy saving, is pushing us to use Natural Gas and Electricity systems. For natural gas, the technological development gives us the possibility of using proportional condensing units, which provide the required energy according to the demand.

Similarly, heat pumps cover the needs of heating using electricity. They provide high energy consumption savings, are environmentally friendly systems, and together with natural gas systems, they upgrade the energy efficiency of the building.

Underfloor heating

In recent years we have heard a lot about underfloor heating, and the number of buildings installing it is constantly increasing. It is undoubtedly a very good space heating system for homes and beyond.

However, as with any heating system, the specific requirements of each application must always be considered.

Simply put, underfloor heating is constructed by laying pipes on the floor and covering them with a special layer of concrete (thermobeton) in order for the whole construction to function as a large “radiator”.

The designation of underfloor refers to the system for delivering thermal energy to the rooms and not to how this heat is generated. It can therefore be combined with any heat energy generating device: boiler (oil, gas, LPG, wood or pellet), heat pump, solar systems, geothermal, etc. or combinations of these (hybrid systems).

However, the low water temperatures required for underfloor heating make it ideal to combine it with a low temperature heat pump for maximum energy savings and reduced operating costs.

Advantages

  • Ideal thermal comfort conditions with gentle heat transfer, thermal energy flow from the feet to the head, temperature uniformity throughout the entire area of the rooms.
  • Energy saving & low operating costs because it operates at low water temperatures (35-45 °C) and is ideally combined with low temperature heat generation systems (heat pumps).
  • Freedom in the architectural configuration of the spaces (because there are no radiators or other terminal units).
  • Cooling function for the summer months with the same system.

Air conditioning & Ventilation

Air conditioning

Responding to the real meaning of the term “air conditioning”, we apply systems in which, in addition to the temperature, we achieve the simultaneous treatment of the air, in order to control its humidity and purity. In other words, an air conditioning installation offers us the control of temperature, humidity and air quality in the premises of the building. In contrast, in a heating-cooling installation we only achieve control of the temperature of the rooms.

Water systems using heat pump and Fan Coil Units (FCU) can be applied in private or commercial buildings. They serve the heating and cooling of indoor spaces. User-friendly with the possibility of remote management as well as programmed operation. They can be applied to newly constructed and existing buildings.

Freon systems, split-type, VRF, VRV, provide the possibility of cooling – heating of indoor spaces. Depending on the installation and type of system, the possibility of simultaneous heating and cooling operation is provided by the same outdoor unit. The development of multi systems gives us the possibility of installing several indoor units with one outdoor unit. It is suitable for commercial premises, as well as private, mainly for cooling. The installation of the system requires an application study and pre-installation of plumbing and electrical networks. There is also the possibility of remote management.

Cooling (via underfloor layer)

With the very high summer temperatures in our country, air conditioning is now considered a necessary evil. Against the disadvantages of the classic air conditioning units, with the main one being the unhealthy cold air currents, the underfloor cooling is nowadays proposed, which is now one of the most modern, healthy and economical ways of air conditioning the rooms.

The basic operating principle of an underfloor cooling system is the ability of the floor to absorb energy evenly from all directions of the room. Usually taking advantage of the existing underfloor heating piping network, with the addition of a cooling generating mechanism (heat pump, water chiller, geothermal heat pump), cold water is piped into the floor and turns it into a huge cold surface. In a space where all building elements have a constant temperature of 20°C- 25°C, a spring microclimate is created and the human body feels a pleasant coolness.

For example, with an outdoor temperature of 34°C, the temperature inside the air-conditioned room would be around 27°C with this system. This is why we always talk about cooling of the rooms and not cooling. Of course, if one wishes, for the very hot days and hours of summer, the system can be supplemented with fan-coil radiators, in which chilled water circulates, giving additional cooling, while at the same time achieving the dehumidification of the space.

For the installation of an underfloor cooling system, it is necessary to have a study of the installation by a mechanical engineer as well as the careful selection of the necessary materials and automation. Air conditioning without creating air currents.

Advantages we can mention are

  • Save space and avoid placing machines on walls, ceilings, floors.
  • Low cost of operation
  • Pleasant sensation to the human body, as the heat exchange is done through radiation
  • Use of the same piping system as the underfloor heating system, so no additional networks are required
  • Silent operation.

Ventilation

The ventilation and the filling of the space with fresh filtered and pre-conditioned air is applied in private or professional spaces. The system is designed and dimensioned according to the requirements and specifics of the space. Simple filters, profilers, bag filters, activated carbon and alumina filters are part of the installation.

The methodology for deodorising the smoke emitted from commercial kitchens is now applied in most centralised installations. It is an essential system especially within densely populated areas. We have the technology to calculate, design and implement similar systems.

Fire extinguishing – Fire safety

Η fire safety saves lives and saves fortunes. A basic principle, which many people ignore, and as a result, from negligence putting their families, homes and businesses at risk.
The outbreak of a fire in a house, car or business is unfortunately a daily occurrence nowadays. We constantly hear and read about the destruction caused by a fire, and there are many times when we are informed that a fellow human being has died, either from the fire or from the fumes caused by the fire.

Yet to this day, most of us do not pay attention to this risk. We ignore it or consider it negligible, so that we do not take some very simple, but lifesaving security measures.
The most important of all is the existence of a fire extinguisher in the place where we live or work. And all this at a time when, by law, stipulates that fire extinguishers must be available in shops and in apartment buildings.

A one-time purchase, as from then on all that is required is maintenance to keep it in good condition and in working order. All our fire extinguishers as well as our other products meet the conditions of good and safe operation.

Η fire detection, i.e. the stimulation of the appropriate sensor of the system, is a system that is necessary to have in every room, whether it is professional or domestic. It is the system that alerts in case of Display smoke in the monitored area.

Η firefighting is an automatic water sprinkler system , also called an artificial water rain system or automatic sprinkler system, consists of a water source, a network of pipes mounted on the roof of the protected space and the sprinklers or nozzles or sprinkler heads.
Systems with sprinklers are installed in buildings that require continuous protection due to their size or the nature of the hazard they contain (e.g. woodworking, cotton processing plants, textile production, timber warehouses, roller mills, car stations, large food or clothing stores etc.) or because of their distance from the Fire Service (FS).
In our country the automatic system Sprinkler system has been applied more and more in the last fifteen years.

Water supply – Sewerage

Plumbing and heating installations are the alpha and omega. Make sure they are modern so that not a drop of the precious commodity is lost!

Thermohydraulic installations are one of the key factors of proper operation of a building. Most buildings usually have small or large problems in their thermohydraulic installations, which can cause serious malfunctions. This can be observed in thermohydraulic installations that have been constructed without the correct Design and supervision. Without even basic compliance with the rules and with a random selection of materials and equipment of dubious quality.

If the thermohydraulic installations are not built to the necessary standards, whatever repairs or repairs are made in the future, it will be very difficult for them to function properly and the problems and the financial bleeding will continue indefinitely.

Plumbing is a very basic factor for the proper functioning of a building. For each installation we work out detailed study and we choose certified materials of high standards.

  • Water supply – sewerage installations residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Plumbing renovations . Αποξήλωση της παλαιάς εγκατάστασης και κατασκευή νέας εγκατάστασης με σύγχρονα υλικά.
  • Sanitary installations. Installation or replacement of all sanitary ware.
  • Plumbing repairs to any damage or problem that occurs in your installation.
